Let’s try to celebrate the love filled day in a healthy way. Here are some tips:

Eating out?
ü  If you are taking your loved one to a restaurant, don’t worry, you don’t have to deny to outside food. Take your time, enjoy the food and company and try to eat smart.
ü  Find out if your meal can be made without butter, oil, ghee or anything that could help you cut down on extra calories.
ü  Remember, grilled/ stir fry/ baked is usually better than fried.
ü  Consider ordering a light soup/starter. This will fill you up before you order main course.
ü  It is good to share your dessert. Order one dessert and share it with your partner.

Staying at home?
ü  Staying at home is a great way to save calories, money and avoid crowd.
ü  Cook a romantic candle light dinner for two which is a perfect yet affordable way to show your loved one how much you care.
ü  Control the portion size of your meal. Cook something fancy yet healthy. For example- Pasta in red sauce, thin crust pizza, falafel with hummus, chole and chapatti, biryani and soup, paneer subzi with chapatti etc.
ü  Instead of high calorie dessert, make fruit salad and save your-self form extra calories.
ü  Sharing is caring! Cook one dish and share it with your partner. This way you will maintain your weight and not over-eat.
ü  Go for a romantic walk. Try to walk for 45 minutes without stopping. You will burn the calories

Do not completely deprive yourself
ü  If you and your partner are trying to lose weight or maintain weight, consider buying a fruit basket instead of chocolate box.
ü  Gift your partner a gym membership or promise each other to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
ü  Valentine’s Day is a time for laughter, fun and food. Having a cupcake/ slice of cake/brownie or 1 scoop ice-cream will not lead to weight gain.
ü  Remember, Moderation is the key. Don’t feel guilty to eat little junk but avoid to over eat anything.
